Synopsis...
Chloe, a diamond-clad, bootie wearing Beverly Hills Chihuahua enjoys her luxurious lifestyle so much, she hardly notices Papi, a hilarious Chihuahua who happens to be crazy for Chloe. But when the most pampered pooch gets lost in Mexico with only a street-wise German Shepherd to help her find her way home, Papi heads south of the border--joining forces with a motley crew: three dogs, two humans, a sly rat and a nervous iguana--to rescue his true love.    hide

OK Beverly Hills Chihuahua will never be mistaken for a good film and the only award it could possibly ever win is a Razzie, but if you go in with very low expectations then I believe that you will be pleasantly surprised and even laugh a little. I mean half of the fun is that the dogs can talk and that they have personalities, so if that isn't amusing to you then what are you doing watching this movie anyways? This isn't trying to be a really smart film it is trying to entertain children and with that as its goal I think it succeeds very well.

The movie also has a pretty star studded cast including Andy Garcia, Drew Barrymore, Jamie Lee Curtis, Piper Parabo and Cheech Marin. They seemed like they had fun doing the voices and that comes through in the characters. It's basically a case of Chihuahua Chloe trying to find her way home from Mexico and many of the misadventures that she encounters along the way. A lot of it was very cheesy and rather low humor but remember it is geared towards kids and I think they will like it.

Only see this if you are accompanied by a very young minor, I do not suggest this for adults that can watch others movies. But all in all a forgettable but enjoyable movie that the whole family can watch.

See the trailer--you'll notice a big Busby Berkeley (look him up) dance number with thousands of chihuahuas singing and dancing. IT ISN'T IN THE FILM!!! I waited for the credits to finish, thinking it would be included. Nada. After all the animation was done, why not include it in the finished film? Mildly funny--for kids and dimwit adults.

O.K., so you're thr parent of young children who are incessantly squawking at you to rush out and see this movie, but you don't want to make the time and money sacrifice required to sit through an hour-and-a-half of boredom. Take a deep breath, relax, take the brats, and enjoy the show.rn I took my seven-year-old under the same preconceptions, and was pleasantly surprised by a smart, funny, and good-looking film. rn Once the movie has been set up, the results are predictable (think: 101 Dalmatians); but getting to the predicted result is where the fun lies. There are plenty of laugh-out-loud episodes resulting from the antics of the cast of four-legged characters. I was pleasantly surprised.
